This disease is more risky for men???

According to a report, about 150 million people worldwide suffer from UTI or urinary tract infection every year. Due to different reasons, this disease is affecting a large section. Giving quick statistics about this, Dr. Yajvendra Rana, Senior Consultant, Robotics, Urology and Kidney Transplant at BLK Max Hospital, says that UTI cases are the highest among all the infections coming in the hospital. The dna team talked to Dr. Rana in detail about UTI. Know what they have to say.

UTI can be a problem for any person of any age.

Dr. Rana says that there is no age limit for this disease. It can happen to a person of any age at any time. Sometimes it also emerges as a symptom of an incurable disease. For example, the symptoms of prostate problem in men are seen through UTI, while the problem of short urethra in women is also a symptom of UTI.

What is the type of this disease?

Throwing light on the types of this disease, Dr. Yajvendra Rana says that it is basically of two types, first 'Complicated UTI' and second 'Uncomplicated UTI.'

Complicated UTI occurs when this bladder infection is also the cause of some other disease. Infections in men are mostly part of a complicated UTI because it is often triggered by prostate, stone, diabetes or other immunity problems. Here the risk factor is high.

Uncomplicated UTI often strikes women and young girls. This infection in them usually occurs due to not maintaining hygiene. In the initial stage, the risk factor is low in this, but if urine is stopped continuously for a long time, then this infection can also turn into bladder and kidney problems.

What are the measures to prevent UTI?

On asking about the preventive measures, Dr. Rana clearly says that this is a common disease, it does not mean that it is a minor infection. people often try to treat it with OTC (over the counter) medicines available in the market. The use of these medicines and antibiotics eliminates the disease at that time but increases the chances of more serious infection next time. It is important that as soon as the infection is detected, its proper diagnosis should be done. Get treatment from a registered doctor.
