The central government has taken a big decision and banned 25 OTT platforms showing pornographic content. The government says that these apps were serving obscene and objectionable content to the audience in the name of entertainment. The government has issued a notification and asked the Internet service Provider to block these OTT apps. The list of apps to be banned also includes famous platforms like Alt, Ullu, Desi Flix. The Alt app was launched by tv producer ekta kapoor in 2017. At the same time, the Ullu app was created by Vibhu Agarwal, a graduate from IIT Kanpur, in 2018.
18 OTT apps have been banned earlier too
Earlier in the year 2024 also, the government had banned 18 OTT platforms. Apart from this, 19 websites, 57 social media handles and 10 apps were also blocked. Different types of OTT platforms
You can easily watch movies, web series or other content on many OTT platforms in the world. You do not have to pay money to watch content on many OTT platforms. That is, you can watch things for free in them. At the same time, you have to pay money to watch content on many OTT platforms. Some of the OTT apps that the government has banned, have free content to watch, so there is no need to pay money in it.
What about the viewers who have subscribed to the banned OTT?
At the same time, if the OTT platforms on which you have to pay money to take a subscription are closed, then the people who take the subscription have to face many problems. Firstly, the subscriptions they have bought get cancelled, so they cannot watch content on those OTTs. Now they will have to look for other options to watch anything, which may not be as convenient or attractive.
