However, Rajini's film Jailer proves that he doesn't even need a blockbuster movie like Vikram; instead, all he needs is an above-average movie to make a strong return.

Jailer doesn't have a tonne of amazing material. Although the movie is just passably good, Rajini's brand is shattering records that other Heroes, even those with blockbuster material, are unable to match. Rajini is a household name in every country, and industry insiders anticipate that the movie will gross over $400 million.

Nobody in the tamil film business has been able to achieve such record numbers with a film with the same type of material as Jailer, and as far as we can tell, the filmmaker isn't a major celebrity like Shankar, lokesh kanagaraj, or another director who is extremely popular with the general public. After a phenomenal opening day, the movie had a fantastic foothold for day 2 in all the countries, and for two days, the movie has earned almost 150 Crores Gross. By the weekend, the movie is expected to reach the break-even point in all the territories. In terms of tamil Nadu, breakeven will be reached by the first week. At this rate, the movie should make at least 400 crores throughout its entire run.
