Titled love You, this 95-minute movie directed and produced entirely by Narasimhamurthy, earned a U/A certificate from the CBFC.
A priest from the village of Siddehalli near Bengaluru, Karnataka, has disrupted the kannada film industry with an unprecedented creation—a feature film made on a tight budget and timeline, without any actors, musicians, or crew. Narasimhamurthy achieved this feat by utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to bring his dream story to life, making it Sandalwood's very first AI-generated film.
A New Chapter For Sandalwood
Titled love You, this 95-minute movie earned a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), a formal recognition for a project that challenges traditional filmmaking norms. Directed and produced entirely by Murthy, the film's cast, soundtrack, voices, and even its scenic visuals were crafted using nearly 30 different AI tools and software platforms, as reported by news 18.
The film was created in just six months with a budget of Rs 10 lakh, primarily allocated to software licensing. This milestone heralds a new era of low-budget, tech-savvy filmmaking in regional cinema.
The Duo Behind The Dream
Murthy, who is a priest at the Hanumantharai Temple, collaborated with Nuthan, a graphic designer turned AI technician, to realize his vision. Despite being a small two-person team, they leveraged AI to produce everything from the characters and soundtrack to drone-style shots, defying conventional production methods.
The film boasts an ensemble of AI-generated characters, 12 original songs, and even aerial cinematography—all created without a traditional film crew, as per a report in Times of India. According to the creators, love You is “a revolutionary AI-generated kannada love story” that intertwines technology and emotion. They describe it as a heartfelt narrative of love, exploring its magic and vulnerability, entirely conceived through the power of AI, thus pushing the limits of modern filmmaking.
Murthy’s groundbreaking journey doesn’t stop there. He is already working on two additional AI-driven projects—one centered on Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bengaluru, and another portraying the historical figure Immadi Pulikeshi. The first of these is expected to be completed within just two months.
