What is Uniform Civil Code?
Article 44 of the Constitution says that there should be a Uniform Civil Code for the citizens. According to Article 44, 'The State shall endeavour to secure for the citizens a uniform civil code throughout the territory of India.' If there is scope left for interpretation, then it can be misused as per convenience. No government has taken the courage to make a uniform civil code.
Will bjp hesitate to implement UCC?

In addition, it has introduced a law prohibiting triple talaq over opposition objections. Therefore, amit Shah's statement about UCC is indicating that this issue could be one of the major election issues of the BJP.
What will happen if Uniform Civil Code is implemented?
If Uniform Civil Code is implemented then personal laws of all religions will end. Right now there are different rules for Hindu and Muslim communities. Muslims follow Sharia law. It has been codified as The Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) application Act, 1937.
According to the Dissolution of Muslim Marriages Act, of 1939, a Muslim man is allowed to marry 4 times without the consent of the first wife. There are debates on the day to day about evil practices like triple talaq, Nikah halala and polygamy. The central government has now declared triple talaq illegal.
