maharashtra deputy chief minister AjitPawar on friday took charge as the state's Finance and Planning minister, nearly two weeks after taking oath along with eight other nationalist congress party (NCP) leaders. It was said in a statement that even before the official announcement of the departments, two secretaries of the Finance and Planning Department provided them with information related to the departments.

His new office will be on the fifth floor of 'Mantralaya', which will also serve as the office of the Deputy Chief Minister. After parting ways with the Sharad Pawar-founded party, AjitPawar and eight other ncp leaders were sworn in as ministers on July 2 and their portfolios were allocated on Friday.

According to a statement issued by chief minister EknathShinde's office, DhananjayMunde has been given the Agriculture Department, while DilipWalse-Patil will be the new Cooperation Minister. According to the statement, other ncp leaders who have been made ministers include Hasan Mushrif for Medical Education, ChhaganBhujbal for Food and Civil Supplies, DharmaraoAtram for Food and Drug Administration, Sanjay Bansode for Sports, Aditi Tatkare for women and Child Development and Anil Patil for Relief, The responsibility of the Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Department has been entrusted.

Shiv Sena (UTB) leader Sanjay Raut on friday claimed that AjitPawar can be made the chief minister of maharashtra in future by replacing EknathShinde. After Pawar was given the finance and planning portfolio, Raut claimed, “AjitPawar can become the chief minister in future. It is certain that the chief minister (EknathShinde) will be removed."
