By acquiring the majority of the hot projects, it appears that Netflix, the top OTT platform in the world, wants to demonstrate its might to telugu viewers. Yesterday, we reported that the streaming behemoth had purchased Bhola shankar and Waltair Veerayya, two films starring megastar Chiranjeevi. Now, the actual fireworks have begun, and they are more explosive than we had anticipated.

The announcement by Netflix that its upcoming telugu productions will be streamed after the theatrical release startled everyone on the eve of the bhogi festival as part of the Sankranthi celebrations. The following movies have been acquired by Netflix: sandeep Kishan's Buddy, Kalyanram's Amigos, sithara Entertainment's Butta Bomma, Nani's Dasara, Raviteja's Dhamaka, Karthikeya's Next, Vaishnav Tej's Next, naga Shourya's Next, Anushka's Next, kiran Abbavaram's Meter, and the much-discussed dj Tillu

That's like a bomb going off because the streaming juggernaut never makes such formal announcements about the movies it is buying so far in advance. This is the first time Netflix has provided such fireworks, especially when it comes to telugu movies, and it undoubtedly made Sankranthi more memorable. We hope there are still a dozen of telugu movies in pipeline and the good thing is all these releases also have tamil dubbing.
