
A major plane crash took place in ahmedabad, gujarat on thursday (June 12). air India's plane crashed in a residential area just minutes after taking off from ahmedabad airport for London. 241 passengers including 12 crew members died in this accident. One passenger is reported to have survived the accident. Former gujarat Chief minister Vijay Rupani was also on board this plane. His death has also been confirmed.
Pilot's last call
According to news agency PTI, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said, "The plane took off from ahmedabad at 1:39 pm from runway 23. It called ATC (air traffic control) 'Mayday' (to give emergency message), but after that there was no response from the plane to the call made by ATC."

What did the eyewitness say?
According to news agency PTI, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft (AI171) was seen coming down very fast soon after takeoff and it crashed. Sources said that the plane had climbed only 600 to 800 feet before falling to the ground. Eyewitness Haresh Shah said, "The plane was flying very low and it collided with the residential quarters of the doctors and nursing staff of the Civil Hospital and BJ Medical College."
Accident at Doctors Hostel
The plane crashed at the Doctors Hostel of Civil Hospital and BJ Medical college in Meghnani nagar near Sardar Vallabhbhai patel international Airport. About 50 people present in this building have been injured. After the accident, there was chaos all around. people were seen taking out the burnt bodies and taking the injured to the hospital. Rescue workers also reached here immediately.
