Tiruchirappalli, tamil Nadu — As the traditional Jallikattu bull‑taming events approach during the Pongal festival season, bull owners in Sengurichi village have stepped up preparations by putting their bulls through rigorous training routines.
With Jallikattu events slated to begin across the state this month, locals are focusing on strengthening and conditioning their animals. According to owners, training includes regular walking, swimming exercises, practice on sand surfaces and in ploughed fields to build endurance, stamina and agility ahead of competition day.
While preparing their bulls physically, owners are also urging the government for additional support — such as financial aid for maintaining bulls and job opportunities for successful bull tamers — underscoring the cultural importance of Jallikattu in rural tamil Nadu.
The Jallikattu tradition is a central part of tamil harvest celebrations and draws participants and spectators from across the region, blending sport, heritage and community pride.
