Authorities said a man carrying a steak knife killed four members of his extended family, including two children, at a residence in New York City's Queens borough early sunday before being shot dead by police. According to the New York City police Department, a child reported the event in Queens' Far Rockaway neighborhood, saying "her cousin is killing her family members."

According to police, the suspect, a 38-year-old man, stabbed two responding cops. According to them, one of the cops then shot him dead.

According to authorities, the suspect has previously been arrested for domestic violence. The two cops who were hurt were brought to the hospital and are expected to recover.

According to authorities, the four persons stabbed to death comprised a 12-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, a 44-year-old lady, and a male in his 30s. The 11-year-old was discovered in front of the house, while the other three were discovered inside bedrooms, according to authorities.

A fifth victim, a 61-year-old lady, was also stabbed and was in critical condition, according to authorities.

According to police, the suspect set fire to a couch in the residence's living room, requiring cops to wait for the fire department to arrive before entering the property.
