We are all familiar with the kannada vs. tamil ego clashes. Starting with the Cauvery water issue is one of the problems karnataka has with tamil Nadu. It is not easy to let go of the ego associated with language. This has now become a bi-state issue. It is known that the karnataka High court has written a letter to the KFCC asking it not to release the Kamal Haasan-Maniratnam starrer Thug Life across the state on june 05. Following this verdict, the tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) has written a letter to the KFCC requesting that the film be released on june 05. Kamal, the head of Raaj Kamal Films International, will also meet the karnataka Chamber on june 10 to discuss the matter.
There are good relations between the tamil and kannada film industries. Therefore, the tamil Film Chamber has asked the kannada Film Chamber to cooperate for the smooth release of the film. The tamil Film Chamber also stated in the letter that blocking the release of Thug Life would negatively affect the harmony between the two industries. In this letter, the karnataka Film Chamber has been requested to cooperate in releasing Thug Life across karnataka without disturbing it.
The association highlights the intention behind Kamal's comment about kannada in this letter. Kamal spoke with love for the kannada language. It is not to diminish the importance or value of the kannada language in the hearts of millions! It stated that Kamal has made a great contribution to kannada cinema. The letter reminded that he has acted in kannada films. The letter stated that he has immense respect for the directors and producers of the kannada industry. The letter quotes actor Shivarajkumar's comment to defuse tensions between the two states. The letter states that it is necessary to not take Kamal's words at face value.

Kamal Haasan argued in the court hearing that he did not speak wrongly about the kannada language and that the kannada people misunderstood him. But the court did not accept this. He did not even apologize. As this ego problem has not gone away, the ban on Thug Life continues in Karnataka. This dispute between the two states is still not resolved.
