New delhi, september 7: The National Law university delhi (NLU Delhi) held its 12th Convocation ceremony on Saturday, celebrating the achievements of its graduating students and honouring academic excellence with medals and awards.

The event saw the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Delhi education minister ashish Sood and Supreme Court Justice BV Nagarathna, who addressed the gathering and shared words of wisdom with the graduating batch.

 Education Beyond Degrees

In his keynote address, education minister Ashish Sood invoked the Upanishadic principle, “Sa vidya Ya Vimuktaye” (true knowledge is that which liberates). He urged graduates to remember that education is not just a privilege but a responsibility towards society.

“Vidya and dharma are inseparable. Your education in law carries with it the duty to uphold justice, fairness, and constitutional values,” he said.

Sood also acknowledged the silent sacrifices of parents, calling them the “true architects” of their children’s success.

A Call to Uphold Justice

The convocation highlighted the role of legal education in shaping responsible citizens. Addressing the students, speakers emphasised that law graduates are entrusted with protecting democracy and ensuring access to justice for all.

Justice BV Nagarathna, who has been a strong advocate of inclusivity and constitutional morality, was present at the ceremony, underlining the importance of ethical responsibility in the legal profession.

 Recognising Academic Excellence

Students from various programmes — including undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels — received their degrees. Several meritorious students were also awarded gold medals and special prizes for academic brilliance and contributions to legal research.

 A Milestone Moment

The 12th Convocation marked not only an academic milestone for the graduates but also reflected NLU Delhi’s growing stature as a premier law institution in India, committed to nurturing leaders who blend knowledge with duty.
