The National Award is considered the highest award for film stars in India. Ulaga Nayagan Kamalhaasan

Kamal Haasan has won the National Award for Best Actor the most times in the history of Kollywood. Kamal Haasan, who has been acting in cinema since childhood, has won the National Award for Best Actor thrice. Accordingly, he won the award for the first time for the film Third Pharai, and later won the award for the films Nayagan and indian and brought pride to tamil cinema.

Dhanush has won the National Award for Best Actor the most times after Kamal. He won the award for Aadukalam and Asuran. Subsequently, MGR, Ceyyan Vikram, Suriya and prakash raj have won the National Award for Best Actor once each.

MGR was last awarded the National Award for Best Actor for his 1971 film Rickshakaran. Similarly, the award was given to vikram for Pitamagan, prakash raj for Kanjivaram and Suriya for Surarai Pototu.
