Twelve MPs, priyanka Chaturvedi and Dona Sen, Elamaram Kareem, Binoy Vishwam, shiv sena mp priyanka Chaturvedi, and Trinamool mp Dola Sen, have been suspended from the Rajya Sabha.
Trinamool MPs Santa Chhetri and Dola Sen, congress MPs Zayed Nasser Hussain, Akhilesh prasad Singh, Paulo Devi Netam, Chhaya Verma, Ripun Bora, Rajamani Patel, and shiv sena MPs priyanka Chaturvedi and Anil Desai were among the other 10 suspended.
The move comes amid protests over a monsoon rally. The suspension will continue until the end of the winter session of Parliament.
The suspension notice issued on the first day of the Winter Session said: “That this house takes awareness and strongly condemns the utter disregard to the authority of the Chai.
This is a complete abuse of rules of the house persistently thereby wilfully obstructing the business of house through their unprecedented acts of misconduct, contemptuous, unruly and violent behaviour.
Intentional attacks on security personnel on the last day of the 254th Session of Rajya Sabha, 11th august 2021 thereby lowering the dignity.
It brings disrepute to the house by the following members and resolves, for the above compelling reasons, to suspend these members from the house, for the remainder 255th session under rule 256 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of business in Rajya Sabha.”
