The ongoing war between israel and Hamas is not taking the name of stopping. Hamas says that their negotiators have started fresh talks to end the war in Gaza. However, this has been said a few hours after the launch of a major attack by Israel. Tahir al-Nunou, an advisor to the Hamas chief, told the BBC that talks have officially started in Doha from Saturday (May 17, 2025). There were no preconditions from both sides and all issues were on the table for discussion.

Israeli Defense Minister israel Katz said that Hamas negotiators are returning to indirect talks in qatar to seek an agreement on the hostages. Katz described this move as a departure from the stubborn stance they had been adopting till now. This happened when the Israeli army posted on X that it had mobilized troops to capture strategic areas of Gaza and free the hostages.

'The operation will continue until all our hostages return'

According to the Times of israel, Operation Gideon's Chariot (a reference to the biblical warrior) has been launched to enable the IDF to capture and control the area, move civilians to the south of the Gaza Strip, attack Hamas and prevent it from taking control of aid supplies. Thousands of Israeli soldiers are expected to enter Gaza as the operation intensifies in the coming days.
