The delhi High court has ordered 1993 bomb blast convict and Khalistan Liberation Force terrorist Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar to surrender before the tihar jail administration. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar's parole ended on friday (May 23). Bhullar had filed a petition in the delhi High court seeking exemption in the surrender process. In his petition, Bhullar had said that he is suffering from acute mental illness schizophrenia and is undergoing treatment, but Justice Girish Kathpalia, who heard the case in the delhi High court, said that proper treatment facilities are available in the jail as well. He said in his order that Bhullar will have to surrender.

Permission sought to withdraw petition

Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar's lawyer sought permission from the court to withdraw his petition during the hearing in the delhi High Court. At the same time, his lawyer assured the court that Bhullar will surrender before the jail authorities. delhi High court rejected the petition after hearing the lawyer's argument.

'Did not violate the conditions of parole'

Bhullar's lawyer argued in the court that his client never violated the conditions of parole and spent most of the time getting his treatment in the hospital attached to the jail. The lawyer also said that after 30 years of imprisonment, Bhullar should get relief under the law. However, after hearing this argument in delhi High court, it was clarified that Bhullar's petition for early release is still pending in the court but on this basis he cannot avoid surrendering.
