Indian hockey team captain Manpreet Singh has been added to the list of awardees for this year Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award.
Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award is the highest sporting honor in indian sports. Indian men's hockey team captain that secured bronze at tokyo Olympics has been added to the list of awardees for this year thus taking the number to unmatched 12.
Other notable Khel Ratna winners this year are Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and Olympic silver medalist in wrestling ravi Dahiya. Indian football captain sunil Chetri and hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh are also among the 12 in the list of awardees.
Likewise, 35 sports persons are arjuna award winners this year. Indian cricket team opener shikhar dhawan and women's team captain Mithali raj are some big names in the list. The other prominent names include Bhavani Devi (fencing), Vandana Katriya (hockey) and deepak Punia (wrestling).
The ceremony is scheduled for november 13th at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. "The awardees will receive their awards from indian president at a special function at darbar Hall of Rashtrapathi Bhavan on 13th november at 4.30 pm." the sports ministry announced. The event is planned meticulously and is expected to be a big success.
