Anita Gupta is a law professor at the university of Toronto.
Anita was born in Nova Scotia in 1967 to parents of indian ancestry who both worked in medicine. His mother is a punjabi woman named Saroj D. Ram, and his father is a Tamilian named S. V. Anand.
Anita, who is now on leave as a professor of law at the university of Toronto, was elected as an mp from Oakville near Toronto in 2019 by prime minister Justin Trudeau, who also appointed her as minister of Public services and Procurement.
Former prime minister Kim Campbell, who held the position for six months from january 4 to june 25 in 1993, was Canada's only female defence minister before Anita Anand.
