Glam star pooja hegde returned to kollywood with great expectations after a difficult period in Tollywood, riding high on her most recent release, Retro.  But the much-needed comeback she had been hoping for was not delivered by the movie.  A trade distributor remarks, "She must be really disappointed."  Her part lacked the spark to have an impact and was badly worded.  Fans weren't thrilled by her straightforward, vintage saree-wearing persona, and her performance generated very little excitement.

The film only made over Rs 1.5 crore in two days, which is a dismal amount for a high-profile comeback, even if it starred Suriya and was financed by a parallel distribution in telugu states. In addition to Radhe Shyam, Acharya, and her most recent bollywood projects, Cirkus and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, pooja hegde adds Retro to her list of failures. According to the source, she "desperately needs a blockbuster to revive her career and regain her earlier momentum."

Despite the disappointments in the regional and bollywood industries, pooja is still working for a successful comeback.  Her upcoming movie Jana Nayagan, starring tamil superstar Vijay, is her next big hope.  The distributor ends by saying, "This movie might be the much-needed hit that brings her career back to life."
