Some histories aren’t written in books—they’re etched in memory, in sirens, in silence after chaos. India’s tryst with terrorism isn’t a single chapter; it’s a long, painful timeline marked by loss, resilience, and a refusal to break.

THE EARLY SHOCKS:
It began with moments that shook the nation awake. The Meenambakkam airport blast in 1984, followed by the transistor bombings in 1985, set a grim precedent. Then came 1993—a year forever scarred by the bombay serial blasts and the Bowbazar explosion, together claiming hundreds of lives.

THE ESCALATION:
Through the late ’90s and early 2000s, the attacks became more coordinated, more symbolic. The hijacking of IC-814, the red fort assault, and the parliament attack in 2001 struck at the very heart of India’s identity. Soon after, Kaluchak and Akshardham reminded the country that civilians and sacred spaces were equally vulnerable.

THE DEADLIEST DECADE:
The mid-2000s were relentless. Delhi, Varanasi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad—city after city was hit. The 2006 mumbai train bombings and the 26/11 attacks in 2008 stand out as some of the darkest days, with staggering casualties and global shockwaves.

THE CONTINUING THREAT:
Even in the 2010s and beyond, the pattern didn’t fade. Pune, Dantewada, Pathankot, Uri, Pulwama—each attack is different in method, but identical in impact. The violence carried into recent years, with incidents in Rajouri, Reasi, and pahalgam reminding everyone that the threat is far from over.

THE BIGGER TRUTH:
These are more than statistics. Each number is a life interrupted, a family shattered, a story unfinished.

And yet, through every decade, one thing remains constant: a nation that absorbs the blow, mourns its dead, and still stands.
