The Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) has announced a significant increase in fees for making corrections or amendments in Class 10 and Class 12 certificates and mark sheets starting from 2026. This affects students who need to fix errors in their personal details such as name, date of birth, or parents’ names on academic documents.
📈 Higher Fee for Corrections
Under the revised fee structure:
- Students will now have to pay ₹5,000 for any correction or amendment requested in their board certificate. This is a major rise from the earlier charge of around ₹1,000.
- In addition to the base fee, ₹1,000 extra may be charged for each year of delay if the correction request is submitted after a certain period following the issuance of the original certificate.
- The Board’s governing body approved the change based on recommendations from the Examination Committee.
📍 Who Is Affected?
The new fee applies to students who want corrections in details like:
- Name (due to spelling mistakes or incorrect entry)
- Date of birth
- Parents’ names on their Class 10 or Class 12 certificates/marksheets
These corrections are often needed when errors occur in the board registration process or during school data submission.
📅 Transition Rules
- The increased fee structure became effective from the 2026 academic cycle.
- Students who passed in 2025 or earlier and apply for amendments may still be charged the old fee (around ₹1,000), provided their requests are submitted within allowed time limits.
- All future correction applications will follow the new fee rules.
📝 Tips for Students
✔ Check your certificate details immediately after issuance to catch any errors early.
✔ Submit correction requests within the permissible time window to avoid higher charges due to delay.
✔ Provide accurate supporting documents (e.g., birth certificate, school records) to support your application.
