The teaser for Animal has garnered very good feedback from those eager to watch Ranbir Kapoor and bobby deol in previously unseen roles. Having said that, it has also refocused attention on the issue of sexism, which enveloped sandeep Reddy Vanga's last film, Kabir Singh.

For the uninitiated, a scene in Animal in which Ranbir's character is shown grabbing rashmika Mandanna's neck in wrath in attempt to quiet her has caused social media waves. While some netizens are outraged that sandeep has once again resorted to male ego and abuse of power, despite the backlash he received after kabir singh (2019) and arjun reddy (2017), others have mocked the filmmaker by expressing their disappointment at the lack of a slap scene between the leads.

In an exclusive interview with india Herald, shalini Pandey, whose character was slapped by vijay deverakonda in the film, reacts to how she is constantly questioned about it. "I was 21 when I signed the film," she says. It was more important to me than anything else. I got paid to perform in a film, and that was my first step towards being an actor. It felt like a nightmare. Nothing else mattered at the time."
