The restored version of 'Umrao Jaan' is set to hit theatres once again on June 27, as part of a heritage revival initiative.
The restoration was carried out by the National Film Development Corporation-National Film Archive of india under the National Film heritage Mission. Set in 19th-century Lucknow, 'Umrao Jaan' tells the story of Amiran, a young girl sold into a brothel, portrayed by rekha in one of her most iconic performances. The film also featured Farooque Shaikh, raj Babbar, and naseeruddin shah in key roles.
