The year mark of the conflict between russia and ukraine is soon to be reached. Attacks continue to be made against both nations. But, US President Joseph Biden shocked everyone on monday by travelling to Kyiv, Ukraine. A gesture of support is apparent in Biden's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky just a few days before the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. At their meeting at the Maninsky Palace, Biden pledged an additional $500 million in US aid to the nation. In light of the ongoing war, Biden reaffirmed the US and its partners' support for Ukraine.
The US President recalled the tense environment that had been generated a year prior when it was thought that a Russian onslaught may soon capture the capital of Ukraine. On a platform covered in American and Ukrainian flags, Biden declared, "One year later, Kyiv stands firm."
