According to the National Crime Records Bureau, cyber crimes against children have climbed 400% in 2020 over 2019. According to NCRP statistics, the majority of offences are reported through photos and video of youngsters being sexually molested. With 172 offences, Uttar Pradesh tops the list of states with the most cyber crimes against minors by 2020. karnataka had 142 offences, maharashtra had 138, kerala had 106, and odisha had 72.

There were 842 crimes against children in 2020, with 738 of them involving child pornography. According to the NCRP, the number of cyber crimes against children has climbed 400% from 2019 to 2020. There were 164 cyber crimes against children in 2019. In 2018, there were 117 offences reported to the NCRP, compared to 79 in 2017.

"Youngsters spend a lot of time on the Internet for education and communication, and unfortunate children are exposed to a range of threats, including online sexual exploitation," says pooja Marawaha, CEO of Child Rights and You (CRY). As a result, parents, guardians, and the children's community should exercise extreme caution when their children use cell phones and computers to access the internet.
