Govt. blocked 747 websites, 94 YouTube channels?...
From fact-checking to spreading fake news, nowadays many YouTube channels remain in controversies. Due to this, the government has been taking action against such channels continuously. On this, Union Information and Broadcasting minister anurag thakur have said that the government is strict against all kinds of anti-national forces and this is the reason why the central government has blocked 94 YouTube channels and 19 social media accounts in 2021 and 2022.
Actually, anurag thakur has answered a question in Rajya Sabha. He has told that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has closed 94 YouTube channels, 19 social media accounts and 747 URLs in 2022. Along with this, he has also told that it is necessary for people to understand who is doing fact-checking and who are running the agenda in the name of fact-checking.
More than 600 YouTube channels may be banned
It is worth noting that anurag thakur had said in the lok sabha that the Center has sent requests to close over 600 YouTube channels and URLs. Of these, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed the closure of 78 news-based YouTube channels and their social media accounts. At the same time, the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology has given instructions to close the URL of 560 YouTube, for which continuous action is going on.
