Online fraud has now reached a new, high-tech turn. Now fraudsters are not only making fake calls or emails, but with the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence) they are directly making a place in people's hearts and looting them. A recent incident from argentina has proved how dangerous the misuse of AI can be. This case is related to a woman, who was thinking that she was talking to hollywood superstar George Clooney. But the reality turned out to be something else, that person was not the real Clooney, but his fake form created by AI.
When AI became a 'Hollywood star'…
The woman saw an account on facebook that claimed to be George Clooney. The profile and video looked so real that no one would suspect. The woman started talking to that profile and kept chatting with 'Clooney' for about six weeks.
In the video created by AI, 'Clooney' was not only seen talking, but also smiling, blinking and talking lovingly. Through AI, the fraudsters copied not only the face, but also the voice and gestures of George Clooney.
How was the fraud committed?
First friendship was made with the woman, then trust was won. The fake avatar of 'Clooney' said that he is separating from his wife and wants to start a new relationship with the woman.
Slowly the game of emotions started. 'Clooney' told that his fan club card is not working, and he needs some money. He also said that he will return the money and will also get the woman a good job.
Believing in this trust, the woman transferred 10,000 pounds i.e. about 11.3 lakh rupees as per the instructions of the fraudsters.
Such cases have happened before as well
A similar case came to light in france in January, when a woman was duped of about Rs 7.9 crore by a fake Brad Pitt impersonator. Deepfake technology was used in that case as well.
