Hezbollah's Radwan Force is preparing another attack on israel, according to intelligence information that was shared with Israeli officials. Crossing the border and launching surprise attacks is the aim of these fighters, who are notoriously dangerous and well-trained.
Gallant made it plain that Hezbollah is attempting to use the Radwan Force to regain the capability of attacking across the border. We are sending them a strong warning with our military reaction. As both sides get ready for potential combat, the atmosphere along the Israel-Lebanon border has grown more tense. Israel has stated that if it detects any indications of an attack, it would respond swiftly and forcefully.
Who are Hezbollah's Radwan Force and why are they so dangerous?
The militant organization Hezbollah has a specific fighting unit called the Radwan Force. It bears the name of Imad Mughniyeh, a prominent Hezbollah leader who was assassinated in 2008. Another name for him was Hajj Radwan.
This team is prepared to fight in cities, use tunnels, kidnap people, and launch covert attacks across international lines. They have a reputation for being extremely dangerous and skilled, particularly when they attempt to ambush Israeli forces close to the border.
A secret plan called "Galilee"
The Times (UK) reported that the Radwan Force had developed a covert scheme known as "Galilee." More than 2,400 combatants were to be sent into northern israel via subterranean tunnels. Their objective was to seize Israeli cities and military installations close to the border.
Israel retaliates
Ibrahim Aqil, a senior leader of the Radwan Force, was killed in an airstrike by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in september 2024, close to Beirut. Four more senior commanders of the battalion were also slain in the airstrike. This strike prevented the attack before it could occur and dealt a serious setback to Hezbollah's intentions. Ibrahim Aqil reportedly appeared on the U.S. Most wanted list.
Radwan Force still a danger to Israel
Hezbollah's Radwan Force is rapidly attempting to regain its power despite losing a number of important officials, according to the Jerusalem Post reporting. The unit is gradually reverting to its previous strategies, which include tunnel warfare, cross-border incursions, and even UAV (drone) strikes, with Iran's assistance.
This demonstrates that Israel's northern border is still seriously threatened by the Radwan Force. Hezbollah continues to actively prepare for future assaults in spite of previous Israeli bombings and warnings.
Israel issued a strong warning on tuesday through both public remarks and military measures. These actions raise the possibility that tensions and dangers near the northern border will worsen in the upcoming weeks.
