Donald trump, the president of the united states, has long criticized India.  He has made a number of contentious statements and policy decisions that have sparked intense criticism.

He restated his assertion that he was involved in mediating the recent truce between india and pakistan and that he was involved in settling other international disputes. Trump's recent characterization of india as a "dead economy" has sparked a political uproar in india, only hours after he proposed a 25% tariff on indian imports and an undefined "penalty" for purchasing the "vast majority" of Russian crude oil and military hardware.

What specifically did Tim Cook say regarding the production of iPhones in India?

But Tim Cook, the CEO of apple, just made a daring comment that completely contradicts former US President Donald Trump's claim that india is a "dead economy."  Despite Trump's ongoing criticism of Apple's global manufacturing strategy, Cook acknowledged that the majority of iPhones sold in the U.S. in the most recent quarter (Q2) were made in India. This admission probably served as a nice check to disprove detractors.

In reality, where are the majority of iPhones sold in the united states made?

Cook added that china is shifting its attention away from the U.S. market, while india is now the primary location for producing iPhones for the American market.  Vietnam has also emerged as the primary location for the production of other apple goods for the American market, including MacBooks, iPads, and apple Watches.

Tim Cook, the CEO of apple, reaffirmed the company's existing production strategy while speaking with analysts.  "The country of origin is the same as the one I mentioned last quarter.  The Times of india (TOI) cited Cook as saying, "That hasn't changed, which is that the great majority of iPhones sold in the US or the majority, I should say, have a country of origin of India."  In answer to a question concerning Apple's decision to move production from china to india, this statement stated that india continues to hold a dominant position in the supply of iPhones to the American market.  Cook was quoted by TOI as stating that "the vast majority of the products for other international countries are coming from China."

Which other major nations contribute to Apple's manufacturing?

Smartphones, PCs, and other electronic gadgets were exempt from the 25% tariffs that the trump administration placed on indian imports.  For big firms like apple, which rely more on india as a production site and supply source for the US market, the exemption is undoubtedly a tiny, short-term reprieve.
