Tamil Nadu ministers M. Subramanian and P. Moorthy conducted an inspection yesterday at the site near Anna Nagar in madurai, where additional buildings are planned for the Cancer Center at government Rajaji Hospital. The visit was aimed at reviewing proposed construction layouts, assessing infrastructure needs, and ensuring that the expansion project meets the requirements of patients and healthcare staff.

Officials accompanying the ministers included Dr. P. Senthilkumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Public Welfare, K.J. Pravin Kumar, district Collector, M. Boominathan, mla of madurai South, Deputy Mayor Nagarajan, and Maru. Arul Sundararajkumar, director of government Rajaji Hospital. Together, they discussed the scope of the expansion, necessary facilities, and timelines for completion.

The planned construction is expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to treat cancer patients, provide advanced medical equipment, and improve overall patient care services. The ministers highlighted that the government is committed to upgrading healthcare infrastructure to meet rising demand, particularly in critical care centers such as the oncology unit at government Rajaji Hospital.

Officials noted that the project will also address long-standing infrastructure needs, enabling better service delivery and creating a more patient-friendly environment. The visit underscored the state government’s focus on strengthening healthcare facilities in district hospitals, ensuring that residents have access to quality medical treatment without having to travel far.
