Hyderabad (Telangana) — Traditional woodcraft from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh has become a major attraction at the 85th edition of the All india Industrial Exhibition (commonly called Numaish) held at Nampally Exhibition Grounds. The exhibition runs from January1 to February15, 2026, and features a vibrant mix of handicrafts, cultural displays, food stalls, shopping, and entertainment that draw visitors from across India.

Craft on Display:
Master artisans from saharanpur, known for their intricate wood‑carving skills, are showcasing a wide variety of handcrafted items. These include vintage‑style furniture, carved boxes, trays, decorative pieces, and customised decor with designs inspired by traditional aesthetics, including motifs from the Nizam era.

Artisan Perspectives:
Muhammad Nadeem, owner of Asif Handicrafts and Marwood Handicrafts, told ANI that his team works year‑round to design and prepare a curated collection for the exhibition. Many of their pieces, crafted in Shisham, Mango, and Saagwan woods, are also displayed in institutions like the Salar Jung Museum. Prices range from as low as 10 for small items up to 60,000 for premium furniture.

Visitor Response:
Visitors have praised both the quality of the craftsmanship and the organization of the exhibition. Many highlighted that such fairs provide a chance to explore unique traditional products in person — a contrast to shopping online — as well as enjoy affordable prices and the ability to place customised orders.

Cultural and Economic Impact:
The presence of Saharanpur’s artisans at Numaish not only showcases the rich heritage of indian woodcraft but also boosts regional artisans’ visibility and market reach, attracting buyers from across the country.
