Six New government Nursing Colleges to Be Established in tamil Nadu, Says minister Ma. Subramanian Facilities Planned in Nellai, Tiruchirappalli, Dharmapuri, Vellore, Erode, and Tiruvannamalai

The Minister for Medical and Family Welfare, Thiru Ma. Subramanian, announced that the Tamil Nadu government will establish six new government Nursing Colleges across the state to strengthen nursing education and address the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals.

New Colleges Across Six Districts

According to the minister, the new nursing colleges will be set up in the districts of Tirunelveli (Nellai), Tiruchirappalli, Dharmapuri, Vellore, Erode, and Tiruvannamalai. These institutions aim to expand access to quality nursing education, particularly for students from rural and underserved regions.

Enhancing Nursing education Infrastructure

The minister stated that the establishment of these colleges aligns with the state government’s vision to improve medical education infrastructure under the leadership of the Honourable chief minister of tamil Nadu. The initiative is expected to significantly increase the intake capacity for nursing courses and create more opportunities for aspiring nursing students.

Addressing Healthcare Workforce Needs

By setting up additional government nursing colleges, the state aims to ensure an adequate supply of well-trained nurses for government hospitals, medical colleges, and primary healthcare centers. The minister emphasized that strengthening the nursing workforce is essential for delivering efficient and people-centric healthcare services.

Commitment to Public Healthcare Development

Minister Ma. Subramanian reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuous investment in healthcare education and infrastructure. He noted that the expansion of nursing colleges would contribute to improved healthcare outcomes and reinforce tamil Nadu’s leadership in public health and medical education.

Implementation and Future Plans

Officials from the Medical and Family Welfare Department are currently working on the planning and implementation process, including infrastructure development, faculty recruitment, and regulatory approvals, to ensure that the colleges become operational at the earliest.
