The bloodbath in tech is here, and it’s not what most people think. Salaries aren’t crashing — they’re just flatlining. But the expectations? They’re exploding into the stratosphere. The top 1% — the absolute killers — are getting vacuumed up by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and microsoft with obscene paychecks.

Everyone else? Same salary, but now you’re expected to work miracles: outperform, transform processes, ship faster, and deliver AI-level efficiency every single quarter. This isn’t a dip. It’s the biggest, most unforgiving upskilling moment the IT industry has ever faced.

Here’s the savage truth broken down:

- **Top 1% Win Everything**: These unicorns are already locked in at the frontier companies, commanding premium money because they actually move the needle in the age of AI.

- **The Rest Get the Same Money, Triple the Pressure**: Companies aren’t handing out raises, but they sure as hell are demanding you become 10x more productive. Mediocre code, slow delivery, and outdated skills? That’s career suicide now.

- **This Is Make-or-Break Time**: Every developer, tester, analyst, and engineer is staring at a brutal choice — level up aggressively or become expensive legacy baggage. AI tools are eating the repetitive stuff, so only the ones who master them and build on top will survive and thrive.

This moment is ruthless but also full of opportunity for those willing to grind. The industry isn’t shrinking — it’s sharpening. Average won’t cut it anymore.

At the end of the day, my response to what’s happening in IT is largely realistic, and I have no problem admitting that. I totally understand if some more buttoned-up corporate types want to sugarcoat this reality. But I’m not one of those people. The game has changed. Either you evolve fast, or you get replaced. The clock is ticking.
