Barbados, once a british colony, is about to overthrow the british monarchy and become a republic. This marks the end of the last 400 years of the agreement with Britain.

No longer will the president, elected by the people, be the head of state.

The move is seen as an expression of Barbados' faith.

Fifty-five years after its declaration of independence, barbados is about to completely liberate itself from all treaties that have annexed barbados to england since 1625.

In the last 30 years, barbados has become the first country to remove queen Elizabeth II from the presidency. mauritius last removed queen Elizabeth II from its presidency in 1992.

Fifteen countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Jamaica, still hold queen Elizabeth II as their Queen.

The country's economy is facing major challenges as it relies heavily on the tourism sector, which has been hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak. The reason is that most tourists come to this country from Britain.

Britain's queen Elizabeth II is currently the Head of the State of Barbados.

Barbados announced last year that it was removing the british monarch from office. Following this, the country's first presidential election took place recently.

Sandro Mason won the election. Next week, he will replace queen Elizabeth II as President.

Following the inauguration of santro Mason as President of barbados on the 30th, a number of events are set to take place. That includes the country's military parades.

It is to be recalled that the news broke that prince Charles was to attend the event.

Barbados, a small island nation of about 2.85 million, faced slavery for almost 200 years until 1834. It was not until 1966 that it became fully independent.

When barbados was conquered by the british, the population was small. The land was used to grow tobacco, cotton, indigo and sugar. In just a few decades barbados became the region with the first lucrative slave communities of the British.

Between the years 1627 and 1833, six million African slaves arrived. They were hired to cultivate sugar.

Slavery lasted until 1838. It was not until 1966 that barbados gained full independence.

Barbados will be declared a republic at an event to be held in the National Heroes Square area of Bridgetown on monday evening, november 29th.

"The time has come to completely abandon the history of our colonial domination," barbados Prime minister Mia Motteli said in a 2020 speech.
