In Chhindwara, women thrashed a young man on suspicion of witchcraft and garlanded him with shoes and

slippers. Actually, there is a police post of Chaurai, Hivarkhedi, here there is a tribal-dominated village, Barah

Bariyari. On september 4, the entire police force was engaged in the demonstration of Gondwana in Chaurai.

A constable along with a clerk was deployed at the post. Then news came that there was a dispute going on in

Barah Bariyari. When the police reached the spot on the information, the whole village was roaming around

the village after blackening the face of 35-year-old Chhote Lal, who was living here and was wearing slippers.

After this nothing big should happen, for this the police arrested this young man and took preventive action

and sent him to jail under section 151. The matter has come and gone, but now its video is going viral on

social media. There was an uproar after the video became public. In a hurry, the police reached the village, but

there was no one to complain. The villagers are hesitant in giving information. Nothing is known about the

victim's family since that day. Now seeing the matter catching up, the police has started looking for the victim

Chhote Lal Uike, so that further action can be taken.

What was the matter?

Actually, Chhotalal Uike lives with his parents in Barah Bariyari village. The wife has left. Chhotalal is

accused of stealing clothes of village women and practicing witchcraft, due to which cattle are dying and

people are falling ill. The rural panchayat has given him advice three to four times in the past. On September

4, the panchayat met again and this time the women caught Chhotalal red handed while stealing clothes,

blackened his face, garlanded him with slippers and made him roam around the village beating him with shoes

and slippers.

to investigate the incident. The case is being investigated by Chaurai SDM Prabhat Mishra and SDOP
