From the geographical point of view, Pali-Tanakhar assembly constituency of korba district is as complex as it
is, it has always been difficult to predict when and where the political situation here will change. In this

Pali-Tanakhar assembly seat is one of the most important seats of korba district. This seat reserved for
Scheduled Tribes is quite old. The first elections were held here in the year 1957. Then this seat was known
only as Tanakhar assembly seat. congress had won here in the first election. Congress's Yagya saini Kumari
defeated independent candidate Aditya Pratap Singh by 1231 votes. From the very beginning, the independent
candidate had given a tough fight on this seat. This trend continued in subsequent elections also. Till now, a
total of 14 elections have been held in Pali-Tanakhar seat. congress has won this seat maximum 8 times.
Similarly, bjp has won elections from here twice. Godwana Ganatantra party and Bharatiya Jan Sangh Janata
party have won one election each.
congress remained dominant after formation of a separate state
In the 1972 elections, an independent candidate had won from Tanakhar seat. kirti Kumar Singh had won the
election from this seat. Whereas in 1998, Heera Singh of Godwana Gantantra party had reached the assembly
by winning Markam. When chhattisgarh state was formed after separating from Madhya Pradesh, assembly
elections were held for the first time in the year 2003. Since then a total of 4 assembly elections have been held.
In which this seat has been occupied by congress only. In the years 2003, 2008 and 2013, congress candidate
Ramdayal Uike won from this seat. Similarly, in 2018, Mohitram Kerketta of congress had won the election.
