According to sources Special IAS officers have been appointed to carry out rescue operations in Nellai, Thoothukudi, tenkasi and Kumari. In a statement issued by the government of tamil Nadu, "The india Meteorological Department has announced on 17.42.2023 that the districts including tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, tenkasi and Kanyakumari are likely to experience heavy rains. Following the advice of the Hon'ble tamil Nadu chief minister to face the heavy rain, the following precautionary measures have been taken.
Meanwhile honorable Ministers have been sent to carry out precautionary and relief work in tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts. Previously on (17-12-2023) under the leadership of the Chief Secretary of the government of tamil Nadu, a review meeting was held with the district Collectors of tirunelveli, Tuticorin tenkasi and Kanyakumari along with the senior officers of various departments and instructions were given to take necessary precautionary measures to face the heavy rain.
Moreover the Special IAS officers have been appointed to carry out rescue operations in Nellai, Thoothukudi, tenkasi and Kanyakumari.

The following senior government of india officers have been appointed as Monitoring Officers to coordinate the activities of all departments for rain flood preparedness, evacuation of public to safe places, expediting rescue operations, ensuring early recovery of rain water.
