kcr would not want to be seen hanging out with the congress leaders at the federal level because the trs views them as its key rival in Telangana. However, kcr announced support for Yashwant Sinha, the joint candidate of the opposition parties in the Presidential elections, in the interest of opposition unity. Along with party MPs, K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of the trs and the son of kcr, was present when Sinha submitted his nomination.

KCR and some of his other PM candidates may realise that the congress cannot be wished out of a race and that it is the only opposition force to the saffron party in several states, according to analyst raghavendra Reddy. "KCR is in a position where he can neither work with the congress nor unite people without the congress being involved," he remarked.

Although kcr attended numerous meetings with leaders of different political parties over the past six months, including the Shiv Sena, DMK, RJD, SP, and JD (S), no agreement could be achieved on creating a front that would compete with both the bjp and the Congress. Despite previous attempts, kcr was unable to bring andhra pradesh chief minister Y. S. jagan Mohan reddy and chief minister of West bengal Mamata Banerjee on board because both the BJD and the YSRCP continue to support the narendra modi government on important Bills. The much-anticipated meeting between kcr and Banerjee did not take place.
