Puduvai student suicide due to fear of failure in NEET is distressing: PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has urged an end to the suicide exam.

In a post published on his page today, he said: "While the NEET examination was held across the country today, I was shocked to hear that a student named Hemachandran from Anna Nagar, Pudu, committed suicide due to the fear of failing in the examination. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Hemachandran.

Hemachandran's death is the third suicide in tamil Nadu and Puduvai in fear of NEET exams. Before this, on march 27, a student named Sanduru, who was studying at a private coaching center in Athur Ammappalayam, salem district, committed suicide by hanging himself in the coaching centre. On april 5, a student named nisha committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Neyveli. All these are tear-jerking.

Tamil Nadu and Pudu may be different administrative regions. But the effects are the same. Like tamil Nadu, Puduvai's mindset is against entrance exams. Before tamil Nadu, in january 2017, Puduwai State cabinet passed a resolution and sent it to the Central Government. However, the central government has not taken any action on it for the last 6 years.

Need is a killer choice. In the past few years alone, more than 60 people have committed suicide in tamil Nadu, fearing the water test. No one should die due to NEET exam in tamil Nadu and Puduvai. In order to ensure that, the central government should approve the NEET Exemption Act passed by the tamil Nadu Legislative assembly 454 days ago without further delay. Renewal should be exempted from NEET examination. At the same time, since human life is more important than medical studies, students should avoid committing suicide in fear of NEET exam," said Anbumani.
