Roy, Bhagat Singh, Arvind Ghosh, Balagangadhar Tilak, Bipin Chandrapal, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr.BR Ambedkar, Dr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, subhash chandra Bose, Anibasant. Along with many such dignitaries from Karnataka, T. Subrahmanyam, Karnad Sadashivarao, Srinivasa Rao Kaujalagi, Nittur Srinivasa Rao etc. were in the struggle.


Many freedom struggles took place in the district. Among them, the struggle against social inequality, boycott of foreign materials, encouragement to use of indigenous materials, removal of yarn from charaka, use of khadi cloth, law breaking movement, many such struggles have been recorded from the district. In the history of Chikkamagaluru district, the Tarikere peasants were among the first to stand against the British. The farmer Rangappanayaka escaped from captivity after spending 25 years in the custody of the british and died fighting against the british while his son Hanumappanayaka fell into the trap of the british and was hanged. He said, "When we hear our people sing this episode in the form of a ballad, we can understand the pains behind freedom. The struggle of all these organizations succeeded in giving the fruits of freedom to our nation on august 15, 1947.


The pride of our Chikmagalur district was included in the festival celebrated by the country.
