In yet another purported instance of poor hygiene, a netizen claimed to have discovered a cockroach in biryani that they had eaten from a hyderabad eatery. Additionally, he posted a picture on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He claimed in his post that he had eaten mutton biryani at Hyderabad's Meridian restaurant.

He asked them to check up the conditions in the restaurant's kitchen by tagging the Assistant Food Controller ghmc and other people. The Assistant Food Controller ghmc replied to this by writing, "Dear Citizen, as the establishment has been temporarily closed due to certain other issues, an audit cannot be conducted at this time." There is no way to perform an audit, thus it is unclear whether the eatery violated any sanitary regulations.

Earlier, in Ameerpet in a similar incident one of the customer who bought chicken biryani found a cockroach and after complaining to the ghmc the restaurant was fined Rs.20,000 as a compensation to him. The incident, which occurred in september 2021, has led to the restaurant being held guilty of failing to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards. This Meridian restaurant is on the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent times.
