In a significant move to enhance regional connectivity, the Tanakpur–Dehradun Express (Train Nos. 15019/15020) will now operate three days a week instead of its previous weekly schedule. This change aims to improve travel options for passengers between Garhwal and Kumaon regions of Uttarakhand.
New Schedule Details:
· Train 15019 (Dehradun to Tanakpur): Departs from dehradun on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
· Train 15020 (Tanakpur to Dehradun): Departs from Tanakpur on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Background:
The decision to increase the train's frequency was made following a meeting between uttarakhand Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on october 8, 2025. During this meeting, cm Dhami requested the enhancement of the Tanakpur–Dehradun rail service to better serve the region's transportation needs. The Railway Ministry promptly approved the request, and the new schedule is set to begin on november 1, 2023.
