The spectacular new telangana secretariat in hyderabad, which k. chandrashekar rao (KCR) inaugurated on 30 april, was the chief minister's idea, and it was built in accordance with an authorised architectural design and brief with the help of the state's roads and building department.

In accordance with his strong belief in vaastu, kcr spent many hours at various stages finishing the floor plans and scrutinising the elevations and minute elements of the architecture and interiors. Six is his fortunate number, thus he inaugurated it by signing six files while occupying his position of authority on april 30 between 1.3 and 1.4, according to astrology, in the southwest corner of the chief minister's office (CMO), which is on the sixth-highest floor.

The B.R. Ambedkar secretariat, which occupies 28 acres, is taller than the Qutab Minar in Delhi, the taj mahal in Agra, and the famous charminar in Hyderabad. It is named after B.R. Ambedkar. The main complex alone takes up 858,530 square feet of the 1,051,676 sq ft total built-up area. It was finished in roughly 28 months and has a space that is bigger than the Central Vista and parliament Building in New Delhi. For such a large project, contracts are often granted to various agencies for various activities, but in this case, all works were given to one organisation to expedite things without coordination issues.

"There are two sources of inspiration for the design: one is the culturally rich and harmonious historical architectural style of telangana, and the other is Lord shiva, specifically the Neelakanteshwara temple in hyderabad and the wanaparthy Palace. According to Ponni Concessao, the dome and other architectural features were inspired by Lord shiva temples and are a beautiful example of Hindu Deccan Kakatiya architecture. The dome also took inspiration from the Hanuman temple in Salangpur, which she describes as expressing democracy in architecture, grandeur, simplicity, and beauty. The complete design was created by her and her husband Oscar Concessao of the Chennai-based OCI Architects.

In contrast to the elevation facades and decorative design features, which are built of glass-reinforced concrete, the 34 domes of various sizes are formed of structural steel ribs and concrete. The Ashoka insignia has been mounted on two gigantic domes. They are 15 feet tall, weigh around five tonnes apiece, and are composed of bronze.

A four-shutter door with a 27-foot height and 29-foot width made of seasoned teak wood serves as the main entrance. The doors have eight-foot-long, hand-crafted handles that weigh roughly 40 kg each. Apart from the department's conference room, seating is organised and workstations are set up so that everyone on staff is close to the minister in question's office.

Except for alterations that are vaastu-compliant, the secretariat's systems are all designed in accordance with the National Building Code and the standards of the indian Green Building Council. The solar panels are on the rooftop. As the "Symbol of Democratic Governance," the secretariat complex includes a church, a mosque, and a temple. 500 members of the telangana State Special police are assigned to the complex's 500-strong security force, which is surrounded by 16-foot-high spiked steel grills.

All entry points also have hand-held metal detectors, door-frame metal detectors, and baggage scanners in addition to this. A crew from a command and control centre set up in the secretariat complex monitors the building's 300 or so surveillance cameras on a 24-hour basis. OCTOPUS (Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations) commandos with high-tech weapons are also deployed as a quick response unit. 560 automobiles and 700 two-wheelers can park in the lots.
