Justice Verma: CJI strict after the report of the investigation committee, recommended impeachment against Justice Verma to the Center


The investigation committee constituted in the case of cash found at Justice Yashwant Verma's house has confirmed the allegations in its report. After this, the Chief Justice has recommended that the Center impeach Justice Verma. He has written a letter to the President and prime minister Modi. A copy of the investigation committee report and Justice Verma's reply have been included.


The Chief Justice has taken a strict step after receiving the report of the investigation committee in the case of cash found at Justice Yashwant Verma's house. Chief Justice sanjeev Khanna has recommended that the Center impeach Justice Yashwant Verma. He has written a letter to President draupadi murmu and prime minister Narendra Modi and shared the report of the three-member committee and the reply received from Justice Verma.

The supreme court said that the Chief Justice of india has written a letter to the President of india and the prime minister of india as per the internal process. A copy of the three-member committee's report of May 3 and the letter/response received from Justice Yashwant Verma on May 6 is attached.


Sources say that the inquiry committee appointed by the supreme court has also confirmed the allegations of the recovery of cash from Justice Verma's house in its investigation report. The inquiry committee included Chief Justice Sheel Nagu of punjab and haryana High court, Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia of himachal pradesh High court, and Justice Anu Sivaraman of karnataka High Court.


It was also claimed that after receiving the report on May 3, Chief Justice sanjeev Khanna asked Justice Verma to resign based on the findings of the report. Along with this, the report of the inquiry committee was sent to Justice Verma, and a reply was sought from him.


Cash was found at the delhi residence.

The inquiry committee has confirmed the allegations in its report that a large amount of cash was recovered after a fire broke out in the store room of Justice Verma's house. However, Justice Verma denied the allegations against him in his reply to the Chief Justice of the delhi High Court. This cash was recovered from Justice Verma's official residence in delhi on march 14. At that time, Justice Verma was posted in the delhi High court, but after the controversy, he was transferred to the allahabad High Court.


A media report had revealed that cash was found at Justice Verma's house. This created a lot of controversy. Chief Justice of delhi High court Justice DK Upadhyay conducted a preliminary inquiry into the matter. After which, Justice Verma was barred from discharging judicial responsibilities. Even after his transfer to the allahabad High court, the supreme court had directed not to given judicial work by the High Court.
