Arulanandam and pushpa are married and reside in an oval near Cuddalore in the Nilgiris area. Last year, their second daughter, Jaya, failed the NEET exam. However, with the encouragement of her parents, she retook the NEET exam this year. Even still, having one is still out of reach for most people. On Nov. 18, she apparently drank the poison that had been kept at home to kill the pesticides in the tea plants because she was grieving.

They were brought to Mettupalayam hospital after receiving first assistance at Kudalur and Udagai hospitals. She died there without receiving any treatment the day before yesterday as she was already dead on the way itself. The failure of the NEET exam made me drink poison as per her letter, and the authorities are investigating after collecting Jaya's letter and they are making an inquiry with her parents.

This is not the first time in 2021 a death is happening due to the NEET exam and DMK government who promised they would be exempt from the NEET exam are also quiet and not responding. Even during the Winter Session in the Parliament, the DMK MPs shouted and screamed and just let it go and there's no proper solution so far.
