The strategic alliance between india and the US has been strongly supported by indian Americans. But the Modi administration's present stance on Russia's invasion of ukraine has driven it further away from New delhi than ever before. At a gathering on Capitol Hill, the site of the US Legislature, a nonpartisan group of indian Americans will vociferously express their disapproval of the Modi administration on this matter.

The purpose of the event, which is titled "Indian Americans Against Genocide in ukraine," is to show that the diaspora shares the nation's horror and outrage over the invasion of ukraine, along with most Americans in general, with the exception of some right-wing commentators like Tucker Carlson.

The event, which IANS first reported on in May, is taking place on Wednesday, and a number of lawmakers from both parties, including the four indian Americans who are members of the house of Representatives, are expected to speak. These lawmakers have all been outspoken critics of the Russian invasion and India's refusal to denounce it. On a brochure handed out by the organisers, raja Krishnamurthi and President Joe Biden are both shown.

Naturally, the American President will not be there. However, the organisers claim that his image is meant to allay any concerns that may have been held there about indian Americans, who are frequently viewed as supporters of New delhi, by indicating that the white house is aware of the event.
