The unidentified gunman opened fire on a protest march in pakistan today, injuring imran khan, a former prime minister of Pakistan. In Pakistan's punjab province, shots were fired at the container-mounted vehicle hauling Imran Khan. Mr. Khan is no longer in danger, the local media reports. To demand immediate elections, imran khan was leading a protest march to Islamabad. Gunshots were heard close to Imran Khan's welcoming camp at Allahwala Chowk in Gujranwala, according to local broadcaster Geo News. 

There were reportedly a number of injuries. The incident, which occurred approximately 200 kilometres from Islamabad, brought terrible echoes of how Benazir Bhutto, a former prime minister, was fatally shot during a rally in 2007. Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the ministry of external affairs, stated today that india is "closely watching" the attack at Imran Khan's gathering. Mr. Bagchi stated at his media conference, "The new development happened shortly as I arrived for this briefing.
