Mangoes produced in india are exported in large quantities not only domestically but also abroad. Uttar Pradesh produces the largest amount of mangoes in the country. In Uttar Pradesh, India's largest mango-producing state, the price of mangoes has decreased by up to one-third compared to the previous year. The price of the important high-flavored Daseri variety of mangoes, which was Rs 60 per kg last year, has now fallen to Rs 40-45. Mango production in Uttar Pradesh this year is estimated at 35 lakh metric tonnes, up from 25 lakh metric tonnes last year. Mango Growers Association of india president Insram ali said that mango production has turned out to be a bumper lottery ticket due to adequate monsoon rains and favorable weather conditions.
As the india Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall from june to september this year, farmers have harvested mangoes early. Farmers say this is also a major reason for the price drop. While various reports are coming out that prices will increase in the coming weeks, traders say that there is little chance of that as mangoes are glutted in the markets. The prices of Thodapuri variety mangoes grown in tirupati and chittoor districts of andhra pradesh have also fallen. He said that mango pulp manufacturers have not yet started buying the fruits and are waiting for the prices to come down further. According to Kolkata-based trader prashant Pal, the price of expensive mangoes has come down from Rs. 80 to Rs. 45-50. Farmers say that the prices have come down here too because the harvest was done earlier.

In 2024, 25 million tonnes of mangoes were produced globally. Of this, india alone accounts for 50% of the production. China, in second place, produced 3.8 million tonnes, and Indonesia, in third place, produced 3.6 million tonnes of mangoes. Uttar Pradesh alone contributed 20% of India's total production. Overproduction, early harvesting to avoid monsoon rains, and the refusal of mango pulp producers to buy the fruit are the main reasons for the fall in mango prices.
