As Cyclone Titli (Tidva) weakened into a deep depression and moved closer to the tamil Nadu coast, Chennai has been battered by continuous heavy rainfall, resulting in widespread waterlogging and severe disruption to daily life.
The relentless downpour has turned several arterial and interior roads into streams, making movement extremely difficult for residents and motorists.

Persistent rainfall across the city since early morning has:

In this challenging situation, Youth Welfare and sports Development minister Udhayanidhi Stalin issued an important advisory, urging chennai Corporation officials to:
- Stay on high alert,
- Ensure rapid response teams remain stationed in vulnerable zones,
- Coordinate with police, fire services, and disaster response agencies,
- Provide immediate assistance to residents affected by flooding,
- Clear stagnated water swiftly to prevent further hardship.
He also appealed to the public to:
- Avoid unnecessary travel,
- Stay indoors until rainfall intensity decreases,
- Follow safety instructions released by the government,
- Report emergencies or waterlogging through GCC helplines.
Relief Measures Intensified Across the City
To reduce the impact of the heavy rains, the administration has stepped up relief work:
- Emergency helplines have been activated
- Pumping stations are operating round-the-clock
- Stormwater drains are being cleared
- Mobile medical units are on standby
- Shelters have been prepared in case evacuations become necessary
