The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially cleared Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film “Dhurandhar” for theatrical release.
This decision ends weeks of uncertainty and controversy surrounding the film, allowing its certification process to move ahead smoothly.
🔹 Controversy and Allegations Before Certification
Before clearance, Dhurandhar faced strong objections from the parents of Major mohit sharma, recipient of the ashok Chakra.
They claimed that the film was indirectly based on the life and operations of Major mohit sharma without seeking consent from the family or the indian Army.
According to them, the makers had neither requested permission nor consulted the army regarding sensitive military subjects shown in the movie.
🔹 court Direction Regarding Certification
Due to the family’s objection, the case reached the delhi High Court.
The court instructed the CBFC to review the concerns raised by the family before deciding on certification.
After evaluating the matter, the court closed the petition, leaving the final decision to the CBFC.
🔹 CBFC’s Official Stand: “A Completely Fictional Story.”
The CBFC clarified that “Dhurandhar” is entirely fictional and not inspired by Major mohit sharma or any real-life officer.
The board confirmed that no similarities were found between the film’s story and the life or missions of Major Mohit Sharma.
It also ruled that there is no requirement to submit the film to the indian army before release.
The CBFC therefore, dismissed all objections and granted the certification.
